Lead Person QA Sorter
Overview
The QA sorter lead will conduct carcass and carcass part sorting activities and identify any abnormal conditions or defects before carcasses and their parts are presented to online inspectors. This person will focus on overseeing the QA sorters and assisting with their qualifications and ongoing training.
Job Summary
The QA sorter lead will perform the QA sorter job, oversee and assist the QA Sorter department, and train employees in QA sorter areas. They will also evaluate department work performance and assist meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform the QA sorter job.
- Oversee and assist the QA Sorter department.
- Day-to-day control of QA Sorter department activities according to prescribed schedules, priorities, operation sequence, and processing specifications.
- Cover QA Sorter duties when someone is absent.
- Train employees in QA sorter areas.
- Ensure safety and productivity of production employees in designated area(s).
- Provide leadership, knowledge, experience, motivation, support, and advice to employees.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping and proper operation of equipment.
- Evaluate department work performance; take corrective action in accordance with company standard practices and procedures.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Assist meetings.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must be able to work in a variety of work temperatures warm, hot, humid, cold, wet or with slippery surfaces at varied heights in and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and quality.
- Must be able to successfully complete training: Beef Modernization Straight knife, steel, hook.
- Previous FSIS inspector training and experience preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and observational skills. Knowledge of beef anatomy to recognize common parts of the beef carcass, skeleton, and digestive tract.
