About the Role

Exemplary teamwork, service, and overall knowledge of BHSF Revenue Cycle, from a Patient Access perspective. This position is for those individuals who will serve as a preceptor for new hires. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating patient flow, timely processing, maintaining knowledge and deployment of practices used within the department/physician practice/hospital to address patient questions or concerns. Serves as a Patient Access resource and takes on a leadership role in the absence of a Manager/Supervisor. Maintaining knowledge of insurance requirements, BHSF pricing, financial assistance options, and overall BHSF Revenue Cycle operations. Assist in supporting go-lives and different departmental initiatives. Participate in departmental committees/champion opportunities. Practices the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence in providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient flow and ensure timely processing of patient information.
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, BHSF pricing, and financial assistance options.
  • Serve as a Patient Access resource and assume a leadership role in the absence of a Manager/Supervisor.
  • Assist in supporting go-lives and departmental initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental committees and champion opportunities.
  • Provide professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients, families, employees, physicians, and community members.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Certification, GED, Training, or equivalent experience.
  • For internal staff:
    • Minimum of 2 years of Patient Access experience.
    • Meets/exceeds BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for at least the most recent 12 months.
    • Exceeds departmental KPIs.
    • Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and encourages others.
    • Cross-trained in multiple areas/product lines/practices to substitute all staff positions as needed.
  • For external staff:
    • Associate Degree preferred with 2 years of Patient Access experience, or 3 years of Patient Access/Leadership experience in lieu of degree.
    • Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, with excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage structure.
  • Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and EMR applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole preferred.

Estimated pay range for this position is $18.87 - $23.96 / hour depending on experience.
