Responsibilities
- Lead, guide, and manage a team of parking enforcement officers, ensuring they adhere to departmental policies and uphold parking regulations effectively.
- Cook up daily enforcement routes and tasks, ensuring maximum coverage and efficiency in monitoring designated areas.
- Conduct training sessions for new hires and existing team, ensuring that all officers are informed of the latest policies, procedures, technologies, and best practices in parking enforcement.
- Oversee and directly engage in the consistent enforcement of all parking regulations, ensuring citations are issued for parking violations in a fair and just manner.
- Handle escalated complaints and concerns from the public related to parking violations and enforcement actions. Provide diplomatic solutions that balance regulations and public relations.
- Plan, manage, and oversee parking arrangements for special events, ensuring smooth traffic flow, optimal space utilization, and proper signage, while liaising with event organizers and other relevant departments.
- Patrols an assigned area, inspecting payment and vehicles for violations of parking regulations; writes summons in case of violation.
- Immobolizes vehicles on the City scofflaw list; collects outstanding fines and fees, assists when called upon to remove immobilization devices on vehicles.
- Troubleshoots problem situations and performs inspections of valet parking operations. Recommends suspension or revocation of valet parking permits.
- Performs on-street surveys regarding parking issues including enforcement, meter maintenance and parking regulatory signage.
- Gathers and analyzes data; prepares reports related to parking operations and other reports as requested by Department.
- Prepares work orders for the repair and maintenance of parking enforcement equipment and vehicles.
- Consults with management staff regarding the selection of enforcement software, hardware, and other parking related purchases or upgrades.
- Provides testimony in court, regarding parking violations and appeals.
- Issues citations for violations of the City Code.
- Aids with traffic control in and around public parking garages.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, plus two (2) years of experience in Parking Enforcement.
- State of Florida Certified Parking Enforcement Specialist.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree, plus four (4) years of experience in Parking Operations.
Skills
- Knowledge of computer programs, including specialized parking programs and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to enforce rules and regulations in a fair, just, and tactful manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors, managers and the public.
- Ability to schedule, assign and supervise the work of subordinates.
- Ability to prepare a variety of reports for management.
- Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
