Lead Painter

Position Summary

The Lead Painter is responsible for owning the job site from start to finish. This role combines advanced painting skills with leadership, communication, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage painters on assigned job sites

• Assign daily tasks and ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed

• Set the tone for professionalism, safety, and efficiency

• Review project scope and work order before job start

• Ensure proper prep, application, and finishing techniques

• Perform final walkthroughs and touch-ups

• Ensure work meets Fresh Coat standards before customer sign-off

• Serve as the on-site point of contact for customers

• Clearly explain daily plans, progress, and timelines

• Address customer questions or concerns professionally

• Escalate issues to the Project Manager when needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of professional painting experience

• Prior experience leading crews preferred

• Strong knowledge of interior and exterior painting systems

• Able to follow written and verbal instructions

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Able to manage time, people, and materials effectively

• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license

• Able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights

Preferred

• Residential or commercial painting experience

• Familiarity with PCA standards or professional trade experience

• Experience working in customer-occupied homes or commercial spaces

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform repetitive motions

• Ability to work at heights and in varying environmental conditions

• Ability to safely handle tools, ladders, and painting equipment

Work Environment

• Residential and commercial job sites

• Indoor and outdoor work environments

• Exposure to paint, solvents, and construction materials with proper PPE
