Lead Optical Engineer (Austin, TX)

About the role

The Lead Optical Engineer will be responsible for leading the development and optimization of optical systems within our cutting-edge technology projects. This role requires a deep understanding of optical principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the design of optical systems for various projects
• Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate optical components into larger systems
• Conduct research and development on new optical technologies
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
• Write technical reports and present findings at internal meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in optical engineering or a related field
• Experience with optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Proven track record of successful project leadership
• Experience with advanced optical systems and testing equipment

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience
