Lead Music Counselor

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement musical activities to develop students motor skills, social skills, sensory perception, auditory awareness, expressive and receptive language and increase discrimination skills, body and spatial awareness.
• Plan and implement musical activities (including seasonal), based on age and functional capabilities to increase student auditory awareness, stimulate expressive and receptive language and improve body and spatial awareness.
• Ensure students musical activities are carried out and that they are enjoying them, assisting in improving body and spatial awareness.
• Perform additional related duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience working with children with developmental disabilities and aptitude for music preferred (singing and/or instruments).
• Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of an adult/student.
