Overview
The Lead Counselor is expected to demonstrate expertise in: individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, advocacy, case management, substance abuse assessments, intakes, discharge/continuing care planning, and appropriate referrals. The counselor may also perform other related tasks that are a part of Cedar Recovery’s operation. The focus in this position requires knowledge of opioid addiction and direct practice in facilitating evidenced based treatment.
Responsibilities
- Treat patients better than they expect to be treated.
- Support the patient’s progress toward recovery goals, improved social determinants of health scores, and patient health outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of medical providers and admin professionals to provide best-in-class care to our patients.
- Supervise staff counselor(s) and group counselor(s) on staff. This can include conducting internal chart audits, co-signing notes, ensuring compliance, developing clinical skills.
- Regularly evaluate staff needs and facilitate some clinical training.
- Conduct individual and group sessions.
- Administer patient assessments as clinically indicated.
- Orient patients to the treatment program’s policies and procedures.
- Establish and build rapport with clients.
- Conduct initial assessments and formulate individual plans of care.
- Includes activities related to managing and improving the care of the patient population across health, substance abuse and mental health treatment, and social service providers.
- Establish SMART goals with each patient and monitor progress.
- Maintain licensure/certification and complete required CEU’s.
- Provide referrals outside of Cedar Recovery as clinically indicated.
- In collaboration with the OTP Program Director, ensure compliance with 42 cfr, accreditation guidelines, and other state and federal regulations governing OTPs.
Qualifications
- The minimum requirements for this position are a Master’s level degree individual and is licensed.
