Lead Mobile Engineer

Opportunity

The Opportunity Allara is hiring a Lead Mobile Engineer to build the native iOS and Android experiences that connect 60,000+ patients to expert, longitudinal care for hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive health. You'll own significant pieces of our mobile platform end-to-end, working across a shared architecture that spans both native codebases. This is a high-ownership role where you'll partner closely with product, design, and backend engineers to ship features that directly shape the patient experience and care journey.

Location: Hybrid (NYC). We value in-person collaboration and aim for at least three days per week in our NYC office, with flexibility as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional mobile engineering experience shipping production features in a native iOS or Android app
• Deep expertise in either Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android), with a strong grasp of platform conventions, lifecycle, and tooling
• Demonstrated willingness and desire to work across both platforms, contributing meaningfully to your non-primary platform over time
• Proficiency consuming RESTful APIs and working with backend engineers on contract design, error handling, and authentication flows
• Proven track record of delivering complex mobile features from scope through launch, including App Store / Play Store release management
• Strong sense of ownership, a bias toward action, and excellent communication skills in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on production experience across both iOS and Android, or a track record of ramping into a second platform quickly
• Experience contributing to or designing shared mobile architectures (e.g., shared data models and networking layers, modularization, feature flagging)
• Background in healthcare, telehealth, or another regulated industry (HIPAA-aware environments a plus)
• Experience integrating LLM-powered or AI-driven features into mobile apps, including streaming responses, on-device inference, or agentic patterns
• Experience working with Google Health Connect or Apple HealthKit
• Experience scaling mobile codebases or release processes at a high-growth startup
