Lead Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Ensure Clinical Technologists perform high-quality, team-based patient care for both clinical and administrative functions.
• Oversee onboarding, competency assessment, and ongoing training of all Clinical Technologists in the market.
• Serve as the trainer and educational resource to Clinical Technologists including training new employees and coaching employees identified as needing additional training.
• Provide oversight and final sign-off for new hire Clinical Technologists.
• Understand and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and workflows within scope of practice and scope of responsibility.
• When not actively engaged in coaching or training, assist other staff members with their duties in the spirit of teamwork to ensure effective and efficient clinic operations.
• Seek opportunities for continuous improvement and collaborate with clinical and operational leadership on implementation of Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
• Complete assigned peer chart audits and submit to clinical and operational supervisor.
• Collaborate with supply chain team to ensure appropriate medication and supplies are available for clinic operations.
• Oversee inventory is completed in each assigned clinic and information sent to supply chain team by requested date.
• Absorb as a Clinical Technologist on a temporary and limited basis, during critical staffing shortages.

• Proactively identify areas of risk.
• Drive efficient patient flow; use eCW to update patient status throughout visit, promptly rooms patients, perform patient verification process, obtain and documents vital signs, take patient photos, and turn over patient rooms.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with UVVC policies, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other applicable laws and regulations.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist, Scrub Technologist or Medical Assistant Program; Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C)Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)Surgical Technologist – Certified (ST-C)Certified Medical Assistants (CMA)Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC)Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
• Minimum of two years of experience as a medical assistant, patient care tech, surgical tech or scrub tech in a patient care setting.
• Previous experience as a Clinical Lead strongly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider through American Heart Association.
• Mastery of standard operating procedures related to: Infection control practices, sterile technique, steam sterilizers (autoclaves), supply management, medication safety and preparation, patient and team safety initiatives and documentation electronic medical record.
• Analytical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement when making decisions.
• Expert computer skills and electronic medical records documentation.
• Ability to manage activities of the team and motivate others in a team environment.
• Dependable; able to meet reliable attendance and punctuality standards.
