About the role
Provides clinical support to health care professionals to ensure the delivery of quality health care services with problem solving and resource allocation. Clarifies root causes and drives cross-functional problem solving within the team. Responsible for cost-effective utilization of employees and other resources while maintaining high standards of quality, service, and satisfaction. Oversees and leads activities of clinical staff, serves as a clinical subject matter expert, trains new clinical staff, and promotes clinical quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow, including preparing the patient for the visit and providing specific services as determined by providers in accordance with provider licensure, OhioHealth policy, and scope of practice.
- Completes Care Connect EMR documentation skills successfully.
- Performs necessary administrative duties to ensure all information is current and updated, including maintenance and monitoring of EMR inbasket.
- Maintains and cleans environment, work area, and equipment; communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Communicates with patients and customers in a respectful and caring manner.
- Collaborates and anticipates the needs of the health care team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Collects, monitors, and reports patient data and needs as appropriate.
- Maintains documentation guidelines for patient chargeable items/services.
- Promotes safety, infection control, and clinical standards to ensure optimal employee performance.
- Proficient in process improvement and maintains employee performance to standard work and daily lead metrics.
- Manages provider schedules to ensure patients see the right provider at the right time and maintains patient flow.
- Responsible for daily improvement and care team tracking center, including audits and collaborative review.
- Ensures EMR quality and billing accuracy.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow in accordance with OhioHealth policies and procedures.
- Supports business metrics for the practice.
- Assists Practice Manager (and/or Clinical Manager) with maintaining clinical competence of other medical assistants.
- Notifies Practice Manager of any staffing shortages and assists with coverage.
- Assists with daily staffing of clinical positions and arranges coverage for sick call-ins, vacations, leaves, and other time off.
- Partners with Practice Manager (and/or Clinical Manager) to resolve operational and staffing issues.
- Complies with scope of practice.
- Focuses on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization (HRO).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Completion of School of Medical Assisting or Military medic training (deployed).
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program.
- 3+ years’ experience working as a certified medical assistant in a PCP practice or similar setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 120 days of hire.
Skills
- Associate's Degree or higher (preferred).
- Experience using EPIC EMR.
- Experience as a Preceptor.
- Committee involvement.
- Five+ years of experience working in a physician practice or healthcare setting.
- Experience as an EPIC SuperUser.
- Experience in Process Improvement.
- Experience as a Committee lead or co-chair.
- Project management experience.
- Teaching experience.
- Supervisory or informal leadership experience.
Schedule
Day shift, 40 scheduled weekly hours.
Location
Mansfield Foot and Ankle department.
