About the role
The Lead Medical Assistant is the first point of contact for patient care. They perform both administrative tasks and direct patient care, including clinical duties such as discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, administering medications and vaccines, performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, and conducting diagnostic screening tests. They also sterilize and clean equipment, maintain examination rooms, and document information into the electronic medical records system. They collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers, deliver direct patient care, and manage administrative work groups and external vendors.
Responsibilities
- Administering phlebotomy procedures
- Collecting specimens
- Performing diagnostic screening tests
- Cleaning and sterilizing equipment
- Maintaining examination rooms
- Documenting information in the EMR system
- Collaborating with physicians and advanced practice providers
- Delivering direct patient care
- Managing administrative work groups and external vendors
- Overseeing the work of others
- Leading advanced and specialized administrative, operational, and customer support tasks
- Coordinating work activities and monitoring progress towards schedules/goals
- Providing advanced guidance/mentoring to other Medical Assistants
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of medical procedures and clinical tasks
- Experience with phlebotomy and medication/vaccine administration
- At least 3 years of Medical Assistant experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- CPR certification
- Ability to speak and write fluently in English and Spanish (if bilingual)
Qualifications
- Active certification in Phlebotomy
- Experience working in a PCO center and Value-Based Care environment
- Knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience

$48,300 - $65,900 per year
