About the role

Responsible for the overall daily operation of an assigned laboratory section. In some laboratories, may perform the more difficult, non-routine test procedures but in general, carries out the normal testing duties of the laboratory. Responsible for section's workload and personnel scheduling, inventory maintenance, and conformance with the divisional quality assurance program. Assists in laboratory projects, training of new employees, and the development and revision of laboratory policies and procedures. Maintains and disseminates advanced knowledge of laboratory equipment and laboratory information systems/laboratory technology. Adept at problem solving/troubleshooting and managing multiple priorities in a complex work environment that supports laboratory and hospital operations and the diagnosis and care of patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory and ensure quality assurance compliance
• Assist in laboratory projects and train new employees
• Develop and revise laboratory policies and procedures
• Maintain advanced knowledge of laboratory equipment and information systems
• Troubleshoot problems and manage multiple priorities in a complex environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Medical and Research Technology, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a closely related field (qualifying individual to sit for certification as Medical Technologist)
• 5 or more years of clinical laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a specialty or related laboratory field (5 years preferred)
• Experience juggling multiple priorities, problem resolution, and coordination/communication with laboratory staff
• Certification in Medical Technology (MT ASCP) or a nationally recognized professional organization accepted by JH Pathology (e.g., AMT, ISCLT, NRM, SBB, etc.)
• Cytogenetics positions only: Certification by the National Certification Agency for Medical Laboratory personnel as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics or other certifying agency
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Pay

Minimum $39.56/hour - Maximum $65.34/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

Schedule

• Full Time/Days: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Weekend and holiday rotations required
