About the role
The Subcontract Technical Representative supports and oversees field subcontracts, maintaining progress reviews and addressing financial, legal, or technical issues. Responsibilities include preparing change orders and amendments, monitoring subcontractor quality, and managing subcontract-specific Condition Reports.
Responsibilities
- Primarily interfacing with assigned subcontractors, potentially expanding to other scopes.
- Planning, coordinating, and scheduling subcontractor work.
- Interface with Lead Superintendents, Lead Field Engineers, and other team members; serving as a focal point for subcontract coordination.
- Maintaining quality control, validating quantities, and managing subcontractor invoices.
- Performing surveillances and inspections to ensure compliance with subcontract requirements.
- Participating in the formation, evaluation, and award phases of assigned subcontracts.
- Managing and coordinating subcontract work packages and executing subcontract activities.
- Creating Corrective Action Plans and participating in Casual (apparent/root) Analysis.
- Coordinating subcontract execution and scheduling with Project Controls, Lead Superintendents, and Lead Field Engineers.
Requirements
- Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Working knowledge of Bechtel Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs) and related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Demonstrated commitment to a “Zero Accidents” safety program.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Construction Field experience in heavy structural steel and previous experience as a Quality Control Representative.
- Previous experience managing construction subcontracts and field design changes.
- Physical ability to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.
- Strong safety culture and experience.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and relevant experience.
- Experience: 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards and determination process.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Construction Field experience in heavy structural steel.
- Previous experience managing construction subcontracts and field design changes.
- Physical ability to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs.
- Strong safety culture and experience.
