About the role

Act as Piping Lead on medium to large mining and heavy industrial projects.
Serve as technical authority for piping systems in concentrators, process plants, and industrial facilities.
Participate in conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility, FEED, and detailed engineering studies.
Support project proposals, assess professional effort and provide clear visibility on progress, performance indicators (CPI, SPI), and ETC for the discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the performance of the piping deliverables across projects.
  • Lead and supervise the development of piping engineering deliverables, including: Line lists and material specifications.
    Piping layouts and 3D models.
    Isometrics, supports, and details.
    Calculations and technical reports.
  • Lead the preparation and review of piping design basis, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Oversee and review piping stress analysis and flexibility studies (thermal, pressure, seismic, wind).
  • Lead the design of: Process, utility, slurry, and services piping systems.
    Pipe supports and restraints (coordinated with structural).
    Above-ground and buried piping systems.
  • Review and validate P&IDs, piping datasheets, valve specifications, and vendor documentation.
  • Perform technical evaluations of vendor bids and supplier proposals.
  • Review and approve piping material take-offs (MTOs) and contribute to cost estimates.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary coordination with process, mechanical equipment, structural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance, supervision, and mentorship to piping engineers, designers, and drafting staff.
  • Support construction, commissioning, field engineering, and site activities, including resolving site queries and RFIs as required.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, applicable codes, safety requirements, and quality procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. (Nevada preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity).
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in piping engineering for industrial and/or mining projects.
  • Strong experience with mining, mineral processing, slurry systems, utilities, and heavy industrial facilities.
  • Proven experience as a Piping Lead/Discipline Lead on multi-discipline projects.
  • Experience with piping design and analysis software such as: CAESAR II, Plant 3D/PDMS/E3D/S3D.
  • Strong working knowledge of North American piping codes and standards, including: ASME B31 series (B31.3, B31.1, B31.4/31.8 as applicable), ASME Section VIII interfaces, API, ANSI, ASTM.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Pay

$140,000 - $188,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
