Responsibilities
- Support and lead a team responsible for completion of design tasks that generate electro-mechanical and mechanical design components and their higher level systems for high pressure/power and extreme environment applications.
- Evaluate technical input from hardware suppliers and work with cross-functional teams on producibility improvements and cost savings.
- Interpret engineering models and drawings and perform tolerance studies.
- Support independent peer review of work performed by others on an as-needed basis.
- Prepare and lead a team responsible for generation of engineering drawings with associated geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Prepare and deliver presentations for internal and external customers.
- Prepare and/or peer review engineering reports to support tolerance studies, engineering analyses, or failure investigations, including technical close-out reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant mechanical engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related mechanical engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related mechanical engineering experience.
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5
- Significant experience using Creo and NX CAD geometry-based modeling. Experience using the Windchill product lifecycle management system.
- Well-developed understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, brazing, machining, heat treating).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point).
- Strong mechanical engineering background with knowledge and understanding of fluid flow principles.
- Experience leading a team of mechanical engineers with such backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Well-developed component and system level knowledge of chemical and electric rocket propulsion hardware is desirable.

Pay
The salary range for this role in Washington is $122,000 - $227,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is [$USA2 MIN - $USA2 MAX]. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
Schedule
This position requires working 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and having every other Friday off.
