Responsibilities
- Provide direction to Forklift Operators, train, assign work, and resolve problems within area of responsibility.
- Operate various types of industrial equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.
- Support and train newly hired forklift operators within their area of responsibility.
- Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using powered industrial equipment.
- Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Inspect assigned equipment on a daily basis.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.
- Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
- Efficiently stack and store product in the appropriate areas.
- Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring the exact number and types of products are loaded and shipped.
- Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars, trailers, or containers.
- Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
- Report quality variances and inventory materials on work floor.
- Follow customer requirements and/or other instructions to ensure accuracy: load count, stability of product, and that all products are loaded and unloaded safely.
- Cookbook and coordinate as necessary with all other departments/functions, especially Customer Service, Transportation, and Maintenance.
- Perform good housekeeping practices, clean as you go process.
- Conduct operations and equipment in a manner that promotes safety and report unsafe conditions that can’t be self-corrected to the leadership team.
- Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed.
- Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One or more years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Forklift Operator with rail-specific experience
- Ability to successfully complete post-hire assessments
- Ability to obtain and maintain equipment certifications (e.g. OSHA, company, etc.)
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work environment (e.g. protective footwear, protective eyewear, gloves, etc.) in accordance with safety policies
