About the role

Working with the Manufacturing Team Leader, the Lead Manufacturing Technician is responsible for assembling, inspecting, identifying and resolving issues in sophisticated electro-mechanical assemblies. The successful applicant will be responsible for the manufacturing, preparation, testing, and quality of mechanical and electrical products sold by Thermo Fisher Scientific EFA Fremont, CA Division.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, testing, and packing of final product.
  • Testing final products for functionality or quality.
  • Identify and tackle problems with equipment, devices or products.
  • Plan and lay out work to meet production and schedule requirements.
  • Demonstrate understanding of function and application of product.
  • Help guide and train other manufacturing technicians.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Ensure that quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent Education; AS Degree in Electronics or Technology preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years experience in cGMP Environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering desired.
  • Appropriate visual acuity and hand/eye coordination to assemble, manipulate, and test small, precision electronic units and mechanical assemblies.
  • Proficient with standard electronic assembly and testing equipment including, but not limited to soldering irons, multimeters, crimp tools, torque tools, etc.
  • Expertise using complex wiring schematics and assembly diagrams to diagnose and resolve functionality or performance issues with final product.
  • Proven experience assembling, testing, and resolving problems in sophisticated electrical and mechanical components and systems.
  • Familiar with quality management systems and safety programs.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in a regulated production environment; specifically following standard operating procedures and manufacturing schedules.
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with others.
  • Fluently speak, read, and write English.
  • Capable of lifting 35 pounds unassisted.
  • Capable of performing tasks while sitting, standing, or kneeling for periods of time.

Schedule

Mon - Fri 6 am - 2:30 pm (First Shift / Days)

Environmental Conditions

  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safety Standards.
  • Laboratory setting and office environment.
  • Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).

Pay

The hourly pay range for this position based in California is $36.00–$38.00.
