Lead Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building systems
- Diagnose issues and determine appropriate solutions with minimal supervision
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and code compliance concerns
- Prioritize and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Cook up and oversee outside vendors and contractors as needed
- Maintain maintenance logs, records, and inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations
- Respond to on-call or after-hours maintenance emergencies as required
- Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules
- Support shelter operations by setting up spaces, moving equipment, and assisting with special projects as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building maintenance or a related field
- Active license or certification in at least one skilled trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or similar) preferred
- A demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of building systems, tools, and maintenance practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), email, and internet applications.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
