Lead Machine Operator
About the role
Georgia-Pacific is seeking a safety-oriented individual to join our team as a Lead Machine Operator in McDonough, GA. The position offers a competitive salary of $32.50 per hour, with a shift differential of $1.00 per hour between 7pm and 7am. There's also the opportunity for a 6% quarterly bonus through the Performance Pay program.
Shift
This facility operates on a Dupont schedule (rotating 12-hour shifts), with days off between night and day rotations. The role is eligible for a Performance Pay program that could offer up to a 6% quarterly bonus.

What You Will Do
- Lead teams on one or more lines with minimal supervision
- Provide direction to assistant machine operators, utility machine operators, and other team members
- Maintain facility standards in safety, productivity, waste, housekeeping, and quality standards
- Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments
- Operate in-line systems with minimal supervision, including manual duties such as handpacking
- Perform makeready/changeover machine setups according to production schedules
- Absorb and assist in completing duties surrounding preventative maintenance tasks
- Identify and drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability
- Recognize and address unsafe conditions or behaviors
- Ensure materials related to the job ticket are scanned into Plex and scrap is recorded correctly
- Perform required quality inspections and tests, maintaining accurate records of results
- Maintain and clean machines and working area as needed
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 2+ years experience operating production machinery
- Previous lead/leadership experience in a manufacturing, military, or industrial environment
- Previous web manufacturing or continuous manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Experience working in a maintenance department
- Experience with the make-ready process to prepare equipment for a new job
- Experience trouble-shooting machine setup, adjusting machines, and solving key issues safely
- Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device
What Will Put You Ahead
- 3+ years of experience as a paper setter, operator, tender, or printing process experience
- Experience with offset printing, digital printing, web printing, or corrugating or converting
- Experience inspecting quality of printed materials for alignment, registration, and print defects
Physical Requirements
- Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours/day in a loud/noisy, and high-volume environment
- Be on your feet for prolonged periods of time and lift 35 lbs occasionally
