About the role
MOS Plastics Inc., a Currier company, is a medical-focused company specializing in precision injection molding, automation, assembly, and packaging solutions for the healthcare and life sciences industries. We are seeking a Lead Machine Operator to support our supervisors in ensuring that production jobs are properly staffed with trained personnel. You will perform a variety of production activities to ensure that production schedules and quality requirements are met while maximizing efficient up-time operation.
Essential Job Functions
- Assigns Machine Operators to machines and jobs based on past performance, capability, experience, and job difficulty
- Staffs jobs to meet production schedules and quality requirements
- Assists in training Machine Operators in following departmental procedures and job requirements
- Ensures workstations are adequately supplied with materials, tools, documentation, samples, labels, etc
- Instructs and monitors Machine Operators' safety and housekeeping practices
- Ensures production personnel maintain accurate inventories and reject counts
- Checks and verifies labels match job pack
- Alerts Supervisor or Maintenance personnel concerning equipment and/or machine problems
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of the department
Requirements
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent and minimum 1 year of work experience in a Lead-level role
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of operations and processes within the limitations of procedures and practices
- Leadership abilities
- Requires standing, repeated reaching and twisting, hand movement throughout entire shift
- Requires lifting and moving materials of up to 25 lbs
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision
- Works in an environment that may be uncomfortable, dusty and loud
- Is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
