About the role

The Lead Locksmith Technician position is an integral part of FlyLock Security Solutions - Columbia and is key to the growth of the company. Ideal candidates will have locksmithing knowledge and demonstrate the ability to learn new technical methods and techniques. This is a hands-on technical position geared toward an individual who has a technical mindset and can work well in a high-paced environment, both as part of the team and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency work orders for commercial clients only.
  • Install, repair, and maintain commercial and residential hardware.
  • Install, repair, and maintain access control hardware (safe and card access experience is a plus).
  • Modify hardware for locks and create and maintain master key systems.
  • Perform residential and commercial lock re-keying and pinning of locks.
  • Interpret instructions in written, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Troubleshoot a variety of variables in different situations.
  • Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and service equipment used.
  • Read operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write simple correspondence and effectively present information to customers and commercial clients.
  • Cut keys by code.
  • Perform basic arithmetic operations in all units of measure.
  • Receive verbal instructions from management or clients/customers.
  • Perform small projects as directed by management.
  • Complete and submit paperwork accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of technical hands-on field experience in locksmithing, access control, door hardware, or other skilled trades.
  • Good relationship-building skills with a diverse population, including customers, partners, technicians, and other company employees.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of working effectively as part of a team.
  • Able to work safely on ladders and drive in compliance with company vehicle policy.
  • Provide a high level of timely and accurate customer service.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to determine service needs and respond to general inquiries.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to fluently understand, speak, and write English.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, and stoop.
  • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and work above ground.
  • Ability to withstand external weather conditions year-round.
