About the role

The Shipping Lead supports the daily operations of the shipping department by coordinating workflow, directing team members, and ensuring windows and doors are accurately staged, loaded, and shipped to meet customer requirements. This role serves as the primary point of contact for the shipping team during assigned shifts, promoting safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery while maintaining inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of Loading, Shipping & Receiving Associates to ensure production schedules and customer delivery commitments are met.
  • Assign work, monitor progress, and provide hands-on support to the shipping team.
  • Verify that finished windows and doors are properly labeled, staged, and loaded according to shipping documentation and customer specifications.
  • Inspect loads to ensure product quality and secure packaging, minimizing damage during transportation.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Customer Service, Sales, and Fleet teams to resolve shipping issues and prioritize urgent orders.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and ensure timely completion of required documentation.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and assist with cycle counts and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Train and mentor new employees on shipping processes, safety procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies, housekeeping standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Assist the Shipping Supervisor with daily reporting and departmental planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping, warehouse, or manufacturing operations.
  • Prior leadership or team lead experience preferred.
  • Experience in a window and door manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of shipping, inventory control, and warehouse processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, shipping documents, and work orders.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with warehouse management or ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse setting where exposure to moving machinery, forklifts, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions may occur. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.

Pay

Base Pay: $26.50 - $28.50 per hour + $1.50 shift differential.

Schedule

2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, Mon - Fri, with frequent overtime.
