Lead Laboratory Assistant

About the role

May perform venipuncture and microtainer collection accurately and efficiently.

Ensures specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received properly.

Processes and prepares laboratory specimens for testing, including separating specimens by centrifugation.

May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth.

Maintains appropriate inventory levels and places supply orders as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains appropriate inventory levels and places supply orders as needed.
• Monitors reference lab reports and requests results that are overdue.
• Ensures specimens are correctly labeled and orders are received properly.

Requirements

• Basic computer and keyboarding skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Phlebotomy both venipuncture and capillary collections
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv
• 2+ experience in laboratory setting as laboratory assistant or phlebotomist

Skills
