Lead Janitor - Agency Sites

About the Role

Perform janitorial services and oversight of facilities owned or operated by The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence, as assigned by the Facilities Janitorial Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Restroom cleaning
• Trash removal
• Sweeping
• Wet mopping
• Dusting
• Vacuuming
• Window cleaning
• Provide supervision and training to assigned staff members
• Monitor supply and equipment and report needs to immediate supervisor
• Maintain cleaning standards following the site scope of work
• Use of high and low-speed maintenance equipment and carpet extractor as needed
• Maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License and pass agency driving test
• Practice “Safety First”
• Adhere to all Agency Policies and Procedures
• Support the goals, objectives, and philosophy of the agency
• Comply with CQL, Justice Center, HIPAA, and Corporate Compliance regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 1-year supervisory experience preferred, yet not required
• Experience in janitorial work preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
• Must be capable of moving up and down stairs without difficulty
• Must be capable of working on feet for extended periods of time
• Must provide your own transportation to work
• Must be willing to supervise staff as needed
• Must be willing to learn proper use of cleaning agents and usage of various supplies
• Must be willing to learn proper maintenance and safety features of both light and heavy custodial equipment
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License

This job operates in a professional agency building site at The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence in Canton, NY.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 50 pounds.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday; 11:30am-8:00pm, including some holiday work depending on contract needs.
