Janitor - Agency Sites

Part-time position up to 30 hours per week. Hours of operation are Monday–Friday from 10 am–4 pm, including some holiday work as needed.

About the role

Perform general cleaning tasks and maintain work areas as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Use high- and low-speed maintenance equipment as assigned
• Use carpet-cleaning equipment as assigned
• Remove trash
• Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum as assigned
• Wet-mop floors
• Clean and disinfect restrooms as assigned
• Strip and wax floors
• Wash windows
• Monitor equipment use and report malfunctions to supervisor
• Follow “Safety First” practices

Requirements

• Experience in janitorial work preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance
• Must be capable of moving up and down stairs without difficulty
• Must be able to work on feet for extended periods
• Must provide your own transportation to work
• Must be able to identify SDS sheets and chemical labels
• Must be willing to learn proper use of cleaning agents and supplies
• Must be willing to learn maintenance and safety features of custodial equipment
• Authorized to work in the United States

Work environment

This job operates in a professional agency building at The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence in Watertown, NY. Some travel between work sites may be required.

Physical demands

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, lift, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 50 pounds.
