Facilities Janitor

About the role

The Facilities Janitor performs a variety of janitorial, facilities cleaning, sanitation, and waste management duties to ensure the facility complies with strict FDA requirements for cleanliness and appearance. This role maintains a clean and safe environment for employees and supports various departments with janitorial requests. The Janitor Associate reports directly to the Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities

• Receive all components, bulk vitamins, equipment, labels, and packaging components to comply with MeriCal’s SOPs/cGMPs.
• Clean restrooms to be neat and orderly, recording the time and date on the restroom cleaning log.
• Ensure all needed cleaning supplies, including restroom supplies, are available.
• Empty trashcans throughout the facility and ensure trash lids are in place.
• Clean general and non-production floors using floor scrubbers, buffers, and other cleaning machines to maintain sanitization and housekeeping (may assist in cleaning production areas as necessary).
• Maintain a clean and healthy lunchroom by wiping down tables, microwaves, chairs, benches, sinks, emptying trash cans, and cleaning the floor.
• Assist Facility Maintenance staff with exterior grounds maintenance, trash and debris removal, basic drain cleaning, toilet seat replacement, and paper towel/soap dispenser replacement.
• Assist in moving office furniture such as desks, chairs, and cabinets as directed by the Facility Manager.
• Follow manufacturing instructions for mixing cleaning and other chemicals, read and understand SDS, use appropriate PPE, and maintain cleaning tools.
• Perform deep cleaning as directed following all applicable SOPs.
• Maintain inventories of facility and janitorial supplies and advise the Facility Manager when critical supplies need reordering.
• Dry mop production department offices as requested and clean office areas, including floors, windows, tables, and trash cans.

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing facility or similar operation in a janitor/custodian capacity.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet FDA standards for cleanliness and a healthy work environment.
• Experience operating cleaning machines such as scrubbers, buffers, polishers, and other equipment.
• Experience performing minor facility repairs.
• Ability to stand for 10 hours and lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate with department managers and supervisors.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/Certificate; one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00 per hour.

Schedule

2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
