About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Lead IT Engineer to own Neurophos's IT infrastructure across our Sunnyvale and Austin sites. This role is the first step in our plan to bring IT and security operations in-house as we scale. You will start by owning architecture, engineering infrastructure, and the systems our silicon and photonics teams use daily, while directing the managed service provider (MSP) for commodity operations. Over time, you will decide what to insource, in what order, with what staffing, and execute that transition.
Responsibilities
- Private Cloud & Engineering Compute: Install, configure, and maintain on-premises Linux servers and clusters supporting EDA/CAD tools, simulation, and performance modeling. Operate shared storage, tiering, snapshots, and backup. Manage batch scheduling, resource sharing, and license servers. Apply configuration management and infrastructure-as-code practices. Forecast compute, storage, and license demand.
- Identity and Developer Platform: Own SSO and identity provider administration in Okta, application onboarding via SAML, SCIM provisioning, and MFA policy. Administer GitHub Enterprise, Google Workspace, Dropbox, and Atlassian. Manage engineering and AI tooling licenses.
- Public Cloud: Administer cloud storage and compute, including IAM, networking, and cost management. Manage hybrid connectivity between sites and cloud environments.
- Network Architecture & Operations: Own wired and wireless network design, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPN, and remote access. Manage ISPs and circuit provisioning.
- Managed Service Provider Governance & Insourcing: Serve as the single accountable owner of the MSP relationship. Audit MSP-delivered outcomes and own the insourcing roadmap.
- Endpoint Management: Own endpoint fleet management across Mac, Windows, and Linux. Administer mobile device management and provide escalation-tier support.
- Multi-Site Operations & Program Support: Serve as the IT owner for both Sunnyvale and Austin sites. Implement access controls and support compliance efforts.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in IT engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure operations, including experience as the primary IT owner at a company under 200 people.
- Strong hands-on Linux system administration skills.
- Demonstrated ownership of SSO/IdP administration (Okta preferred), including SCIM-based provisioning.
- Practical network engineering ability: switching, VLANs, enterprise Wi-Fi, firewall policy, VPN, and DNS/DHCP.
- Hands-on administration of macOS and Windows fleets, including imaging, patching, and compliance enforcement.
- Working proficiency with a major public cloud, ideally Azure.
- Demonstrated success managing an MSP or outsourced IT function.
- Scripting and automation fluency.
- Willingness to travel between Sunnyvale and Austin as needed.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting semiconductor or hardware engineering organizations.
- GitHub Enterprise administration and developer platform operations.
- Experience building IT operations from near-zero, including a second-site office or lab build-out.
- Familiarity with SOC 2, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or ISO 27001.
- Experience with high-performance networking (RDMA, InfiniBand) or rack-scale hardware bring-up.
Benefits
- 100% coverage of base health plan premiums for you and your dependents, plus HSA contributions.
- Unlimited PTO.
- 401(k) matching and stock option opportunities.
- Full suite of voluntary benefits, including Dental, Vision, Life, Hospital, Critical Illness, and Accident insurance.
- Personalized benefits: choose plans that fit your life and take cash back for those that don’t.
Location: Austin, TX or Sunnyvale, CA. Full-time onsite position.
