Lead Irrigation Technician

About the role

Mortenson Bros. Farms is seeking a Lead Irrigation Technician to maintain all irrigation systems and keep them operational across more than 14,000 acres of center-pivot irrigated potato and vegetable crops.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and diagnose 100+ irrigation systems (center pivot, straight systems, corner-arm swing tower systems) including physical structure, electrical components, and operation
• Oversee VFD, pump panels, telemetry, sequencing, maintenance, and system operation
• Provide organization, direction, and supervision to a team of irrigation specialists
• Schedule and track routine and preventative maintenance, winterization, and repairs
• Manage inventory of parts, tires, and related supplies
• Perform non-irrigation electrical services such as lighting, wiring, and occasional electrical maintenance on farm equipment and buildings

Requirements

• Working knowledge and experience with irrigation systems, including center pivot, straight systems, and corner-arm swing tower systems
• Experience with VFD, pump panels, telemetry, sequencing, maintenance, and system operation
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with farm management, team members, and outside vendors
