About the role

The Summer Academy Lead Instructors are responsible for developing and leading academic-focused youth programs. They will develop an academically focused and engaging course in the subject area that will both teach and motivate the youth attending the program.

Responsibilities

  • Developing program and syllabus, learning objectives and outcomes
  • Preparing curriculum content: lesson plans, presentations, handouts, etc. for classroom instruction
  • Evaluating/assessing students’ progress in attaining outlined learning objectives and outcomes
  • Preparing, maintaining and submitting all required documentation and administrative reports (i.e. attendance, assessment scores) pertaining to the course
  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments of the subject matter area
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom area

  • Physical demands may vary depending on the program/course subject matter. Most work is typically performed in a classroom environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.

Qualifications

  • Needed qualifications may vary by subject matter area, but generally include: a wealth of work experience and appropriate education/training and credentials pertinent to the program/course subject matter. Formal teaching certification is not required.
