Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and teach baseball and softball skills at the Academy to insure consistency of basic baseball/softball offensive and defensive fundamentals at all levels.
  • Teach all fundamentals identical to MLB standards.
  • Assist the manager and staff in the selection of players for appropriate Academy teams.
  • Coach teams as needed.
  • Lead and/or assist instruction at camps, batting practices, non-profit activations and clinics as assigned.
  • Lead and/or assist at all events assigned at Minute Maid Park including batting practices and client engagement events.
  • Support the YA’s marketing efforts and outreach by participating in various public events, speaking engagements and other outreach or promotional programs and events.

Education and/or Experience & Skills

  • Experience as a professional player, graduated college player/student, experience as a college/high school baseball or softball coach.
  • Organized, efficient and consistent positive communication skills.
  • Team player and ready to take direction.
  • Solid organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Able to organize baseball and softball practices.
  • Able to instruct all facets of baseball and softball.

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud.
  • The employee will be expected to work both indoors and outdoors, often in varying weather patterns (extreme heat or cold, rain, etc.).

  • The ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a part-time position.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including; extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Travel

  • No travel is expected for this position.
