Lead Industrial Engineer

Job Description

The Lead Industrial Engineer role requires 50-75% travel annually. This position oversees operational processes and results for a specific customer account, conducts time and motion studies, troubleshoots operations, and leads process improvements.

• Supports and troubleshoots current operations
• Investigates, gathers, and analyzes data on workflow and operations to enhance efficiency and implement solutions
• Works with site management to ensure operational performance and reports findings to senior leadership
• Innovates and implements cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas of moderate scope
• Applies electronic tools such as SAP, AutoCAD, MS Project, and Production Engineer Labor Standards
• Develops and implements plans for warehousing and logistics operations
• Designs operations layouts and improves production flow and presentation
• Maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
• Leads studies related to capacity, energy, productivity, and efficiency
• Champions Continuous Improvement Process initiatives and transfers best practices across customer sites
• Executes Customer projects and strategic initiatives

Required Education and Experience

• Basic understanding of warehouse operations (inbound, putaway, pick, pack, ship)
• Experience using AutoCAD and making layout changes
• Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts and ability to identify low-hanging fruit opportunities
• Ability to perform GEMBA walks with operations teams
• Knowledge of conducting time studies and converting data into meaningful insights
• Proficiency in flowcharting software and outlining process steps
• Experience communicating and interacting with external organizations (vendors, customers, and government)
• Ability to solve problems using conventional approaches and think beyond the obvious solutions
• Experience working with vendors, suppliers, operators, and support functions for problem-solving
• Ability to identify problems and strengthen communication skills across various organizational levels
• Contract Administration and Metric Development experience preferred
• Project Management experience preferred
• Able to clearly present information through the spoken word and written documentation
• Able to negotiate effectively and influence others
• Able to define realistic, specific goals and objectives, prioritize them, and measure progress
• Able to organize or schedule tasks and develop realistic action plans
• Able to exhibit high motivation and a sense of urgency
