Lead, Industrial Engineer
About the role
Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is our ability to produce highly tailored, complex composite components. With our unique blend of products – including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through thickness reinforcement technologies, to name a few – AEC is able to produce composite components and products which meet performance and cost specifications often beyond the reach of metallic or conventional laminated composites.
The Industrial Engineering (IE) team is charged with balancing the needs of our customers with the capabilities and capacities of the production floor. They will provide Operations Leaders with the data necessary to make sound decisions, and drive improvements in quality and efficiency. The Lead IE will ensure that the team has the resources and support to be successful, as well as helping forge the way for the Long-term growth of the business. This individual will regularly engage with cross-functional departments, as well as upper management.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of Industrial Engineering direct reports at two manufacturing sites
- Engagement with AEC Executive Leadership in the preparation of reports, root cause analysis, and program reviews
- Support of Production Rate Readiness for legacy and new business
- Support of long-term strategic facilities and capital planning through data analytics
- Support of Operations Management Teams in creating and interrogating safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics
- Management of CAPEX at the Salt Lake City Business Unit
- Creation and deployment of Integrated Business Planning Strategy across AEC
- Support continuous improvement projects through lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, and six sigma initiatives
- Functional ownership of combined 600,000+ SQFT Production Facility Layout
- Shift Day
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Work Experience in Aerospace Manufacturing or related field
- B.S. in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or related field
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with Data Analytics and Statistics
- Leadership Experience (Formal or Informal)
- Comfortable with interfacing and presenting to Upper Management
- Cultural Leader who puts a focus on developing their direct reports and peers
- Proficiency with Load vs Capacity Analysis
- Willingness to periodically travel between AEC sites, globally
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAP ERP
- Six Sigma – Green Belt Certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI
- 2+ years of Management Experience
- Experience with New Product Introductions
- Basic Financial & Accounting Acumen
- Experience designing large scale factory layouts
- Experience with Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP)
