Lead HVAC Technician
About the role
The Construction Licensed Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for refrigeration and HVAC project installations, project planning and review, cost estimation, and overseeing project budgets to ensure they meet requirements. Additionally, this position will handle repairs and maintenance of hospital refrigeration and HVAC systems and components, ensuring these systems operate efficiently for medical center buildings.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and maintain refrigeration and HVAC systems and components in hospital settings.
- Direct the work of less skilled mechanics and maintenance staff on projects as part of a collaborative team.
- Plan and review projects, estimate costs, and manage budgets to meet project requirements.
- Oversee the operation of heating and cooling systems to ensure their proper functioning.
Requirements
- Basic certification in HVAC from an accredited trade school.
- National EPA Section 608 Certification - State, County, City Trade License Authority.
- At least 10 years of experience in refrigeration/HVAC systems installation, servicing, and maintenance.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams related to refrigeration.
- Experience using common and sophisticated tools and systems in an acute care facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- A two-year trade school certificate emphasizing HVAC, electrical, and building control systems.
- Successful completion of a 4-year Apprenticeship from a recognized Union emphasizing HVAC.

Pay
The base pay range for this position is $55.44 - $59.44 per hour. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
