Lead HVAC Installer - Residential Retrofit

About the role

Lead and supervise end-to-end residential retrofit and change-out installations from start to finish.
Read and interpret load calculations, equipment specs, and job scopes to determine equipment layout and installation requirements.
Install furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, air handlers, ductwork, line sets, and control systems with precision in occupied homes.
Commission systems: work with technicians to perform start-up checks, calibrate controls and safety devices, verify airflow, refrigerant charge, and proper operation.
Protect the customer's home with drop cloths, clean staging, and a spotless jobsite before, during, and after the install.
Mentor and train installation crews, assign tasks, review workmanship, and enforce our quality standards.
Coordinate with the install director, comfort advisors, and other trades to keep jobs on schedule and within budget.
Conduct on-site troubleshooting and make real-time decisions to resolve installation challenges.
Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications, local codes, and OSHA safety regulations.
Manage material orders, inventory, and equipment staging for each job.
Maintain accurate job documentation in ServiceTitan: time logs, change orders, sign-offs, and close-out reports.
Communicate clearly with homeowners: explain system operation, answer questions, and ensure complete satisfaction.
Maintain a clean, organized worksite and enforce best-practice safety protocols at all times.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the HVAC industry is required to ensure a solid foundation of practical skills and knowledge.
  • Candidates must possess in-depth technical knowledge of residential HVAC systems and the installation process. This includes the ability to read and interpret equipment specs and HVAC wiring diagrams effectively.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential for this role, as it may require travel to different job sites.
  • Certifications: Candidates must have passed or be willing to obtain the EPA Certification. Obtaining NATE certification within the first 12 months of employment is expected, with continuous education and company support provided to facilitate this achievement.

Qualifications

  • Experienced: 3+ years of lead residential HVAC install experience.
  • Licensed or Trainee: WA 06A or 07 trainee card accepted; 06 and/or 07 license preferred.
  • EPA Certification.

Schedule

Flexible scheduling to accommodate residential retrofit and change-out installations, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay

$30-$45/hour dependent on experience plus bonuses.
