Lead Host

Department: Front of House (FOH) • Reports To: Floor Manager → GM • Location: Cala Scottsdale

About the role

The Lead Host / Coordinator oversees reservation systems, guest flow, and front door operations to ensure seamless service execution. This individual supports the host team, communicates closely with management, and protects the guest experience through strategic seating and real-time decision-making. You think ahead. You solve problems quickly. You remain calm when others feel the pressure.

Responsibilities

• Reservation & Systems Management
  • Monitor and adjust pacing, floor plans, and turn times in real time.
  • Manage waitlists and reservation modifications with accuracy.
  • Anticipate high-volume periods and proactively adjust strategy.
  • Maintain accurate guest notes, VIP tags, and special requests.
• Guest Flow & Experience
  • Oversee seating strategy to balance service and maximize efficiency.
  • Communicate clearly with management, servers, and support teams.
  • Handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Assist with guest recovery when necessary.
  • Maintain a polished, welcoming presence at the door.
• Team Leadership
  • Support and guide hosts during high-volume shifts.
  • Set the tone for professionalism and hospitality standards.
  • Ensure hosts are informed of pacing updates and floor changes.
  • Lead by example with confidence and positivity.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of OpenTable or comparable reservation systems.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Comfortable making real-time decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communicator with leadership presence.
• High emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible availability (nights, weekends, holidays).
