Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests
- Answer phones and take reservations
- Direct guests to bar, lounge or restrooms
- Maintain the flow of service throughout the dining room
- Communicate with servers about guests' wants and needs
- Escort guests to their table
- Check coats and maintain coat check room
- Post daily floorplans and side work duties
- Stock supplies such as matches, business cards, and toothpicks
- Maintain a clean, safe environment
- Comply with health, safety, and labor regulations
Required Skills & Experience
- Speak, read, and write in the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Read and write to facilitate the communication process
- Have good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Know appropriate table settings and service ware
- Be knowledgeable about all menu items, prices, and general service procedures
- Have basic computational ability
- Have basic computer skills
- Be familiar with Open Table or similar reservation system
Physical Requirements
- Work primarily indoors
- Must be able to stand and move around for at least 8 hours
- Must be able to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously
- Must be able to move in limited space
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
- May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 20 lbs. occasionally
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees
