About the Role
Under the direct supervision of the Health Information Management Manager, this position provides timely and accurate administrative support functions including medical records management, scanning, PHI request, and messaging to both clinical and non-clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform HIM Clerk III duties
- Train new hires and conduct team training classes, lunch and learn meetings
- Make corrections to employee time
- Assist with presentations
- Perform chart merges
- Manage payer platform incoming appointments and HIM referral folders
- Handle administrative duties such as bank deposits, updating provider codes, and updating clinic information
- Demonstrate strong time management skills
- Conduct one-on-one team meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to read and understand the English language
- Ability to effectively maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all levels of personnel
- One year of clerical experience in a medical office setting required
- Previous experience working in Medical Records with basic to advanced working knowledge of Privacy laws, HIPAA laws, and Release of Information laws
- Knowledge of medical office operations
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with changing priorities
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to function as part of a team
- Possess initiative
- Basic medical terminology (knowledge can be obtained through formal classes or work experience)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED certificate required
- Bilingual is recommended

- Proficient in use of all computer software utilized in practice
