Lead General Maintenance Technician

As a General Maintenance Technician at JLL, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall efficiency of facility operations. This position is responsible for performing a broad range of maintenance and repair activities across building systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure. Working at a commercial facility in Tuskegee, AL, you'll be the go-to professional for hands-on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, ensuring optimal facility performance and tenant satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician with strong problem-solving abilities, a customer-focused mindset, and experience supporting dynamic commercial environments.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems to ensure consistent operational reliability.
- Conduct facility and equipment inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues proactively, preventing costly downtime.
- Respond to work orders, service requests, and emergency maintenance situations in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete basic carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and general handyman tasks as needed to support facility upkeep.
- Install, maintain, and repair facility equipment and machinery according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Utilize the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track, update, and close work orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and building codes at all times.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in general maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems with demonstrated troubleshooting ability.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Basic computer skills for work order management, email communication, and documentation.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various physical positions including standing, bending, climbing, and working at heights.
Preferred Qualifications
- A technical school certification or completion of a relevant apprenticeship program (HVAC, electrical, or facilities maintenance).
- Experience working in commercial or industrial facilities environments.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms or computerized work order systems such as ServiceChannel, Maximo, or similar.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities when interacting with tenants and team members.
- Basic knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) or energy management systems.
