Job Overview

Calvert Masonry Inc. is seeking a skilled, hands‑on Foreman to lead frontline field crews on commercial projects. In this role you will have primary responsibility for day‑to‑day field operations of the assigned project and serve as Calvert’s primary field representative. You will direct Foreman 1A/1B personnel and crews of varying size, including medium to large crews of up to approximately 40 employees, working under the direction of the assigned Superintendent and closely with the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and supervise daily masonry operations, including manpower assignments, sequencing, layout, material flow and equipment utilization to maintain safe and productive operations.
  • Direct personnel assigned to the project; monitor workforce productivity, quality and safety and adjust work assignments and crew organization as required.

  • Participate in project‑specific coordination meetings.
  • Review contract and shop drawings sufficiently to plan and direct the work; identify conflicts, missing information, changed conditions or other issues and timely communicate them to the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Maintain material inventories, forecast project needs and coordinate material orders and deliveries sufficiently in advance to avoid interruption of production.
  • Monitor project schedule and short‑term requirements; plan Calvert’s work accordingly and promptly advise the Superintendent and Project Manager of conditions affecting schedule, manpower, productivity, cost or time of performance.
  • Maintain required project documentation including daily reports, in‑place production quantities, equipment/scaffold inspections, delivery tickets and other field records.
  • Plan and coordinate project equipment, scaffold and logistical needs and timely communicate requirements for additional manpower, equipment or company resources to the Superintendent.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Superintendent and Project Manager regarding project status and promptly elevate issues requiring additional assistance or management action.
  • Knowledgeable in equipment operation, scaffold systems, crane rigging/hoisting, masonry and grout systems and techniques, and through‑wall flashing systems, including applicable safety and maintenance requirements.
  • Promptly elevate issues that cannot reasonably be resolved at the field level to the Superintendent or Project Manager, providing sufficient information for Calvert management to understand the issue and determine the required action.
  • Perform specific operational task assignments at the discretion of the Director of Field Operations and, depending on project and crew size, perform production work with tools/hands as needed.
  • Depending on project size, crew size and operational needs, perform production work with tools/hands as needed; however, the primary responsibility is the planning, direction, coordination and supervision of the project’s field operations.
