About the role

This position within Investment Reporting will be responsible for leading a team supporting Derivative & Securities Operations Accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for accounting accuracy, financial reporting, and analysis functions. This position will be responsible for applying accounting knowledge and judgment to activities that are diverse and complex.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, mentor, and manage staff to achieve performance success.
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting across multiple bases of accounting.
  • Monthly oversight, review, and approval of suspense balances and reconciliations from source back to general ledger with a focus on derivatives.
  • Responsible for monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records by preparing and reviewing journal entries with primary focus on derivatives but not limited to.
  • Extract financial and attribute data from core accounting system to trouble-shoot and resolve cash payment discrepancies or reconciliation variances.
  • Extracts financial data from accounting systems to perform appropriate analyses. Analytical focus will be on derivative and securities assets.
  • Core system integrity and data quality in accordance with accounting policy and processing procedures.
  • Daily review of derivative activity processing results and be able to address questions regarding accounting results calculated by the system.
  • Work directly with the vendor and stakeholder to resolve process exceptions.
  • Understand the flow of information and use that knowledge to troubleshoot problems.
  • Recommends changes to processes to improve and achieve greater efficiencies by documenting business requirements and participating in testing efforts.
  • Participates on project teams or leads project teams. Works effectively with other departments/divisions to ensure business issues are resolved for the success of the company.
  • Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience, with degree.
  • Communication, coaching and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Works effectively individually and within a team; organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience working with remote employees supporting different functional areas.
  • Deadline driven with the ability to multi-task and work effectively individually and within a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Advanced computer skills; Power BI, Report writing, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year supervisory experience.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting/financial area preferred (for example, investments, insurance products, premium).
  • Background with Murex, Clearwater, and Oracle tools preferred.
  • Experience leading a team through change initiatives.

Pay

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $97,000 - $115,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law. Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
