Job Summary

Reporting to the EPC Automation lead role, the Lead Field Tech Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, configuration and support of jobsite digital/automation applications. The successful candidate can expect to deploy a broad range of automation, innovation, and AI solutions in the field. Working under the direction of the EPC Automation Lead, this position works with the site team to help implement digital solutions - mobile applications, configurations, troubleshoot system issues, prepare dashboards, documentation, and assist with user support and training. This role contributes to the overall digital delivery strategy and ensures site teams can effectively use automation tools to drive safe and efficient execution.

Major Responsibilities

  • Deployment and management of Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) and related workflows in line with Bechtel standard work processes.
  • Audit data exchanges to and from field applications and ensure they are correctly configured to support construction & Commissioning work activities.
  • Review any application deviations raised by the project team, evaluate their impact on other applications, data integration, and work processes, and works with the project EPC Automation Lead, the functional PIIM and Construction Automation teams for verification and approval of deviations.
  • Develop and maintain reporting solutions, including performance curves, metrics, dashboards, and trackers to drive insights and continuous improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, system monitoring, and escalation of complex technical issues.
  • Lead training, onboarding, and user support, including the development of user guides and training materials for project teams, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure contractor and supplier compliance with automation, data quality, and reporting requirements across construction workflows.
  • Support execution planning and digital adoption, including upskilling initiatives and alignment of automation solutions with project delivery objectives.
  • Champion innovation and digital transformation, including AI, robotics, and field data capture technologies (e.g., drones), fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Construction Management, or a related discipline and 3+ years of experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong knowledge of engineering and construction methods, workflows, and capital project execution processes, including cross-functional integration across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, Startup, Safety, Quality, and Client teams.
  • Basic understanding of EPC automation applications and associated work processes (e.g., installed quantities, work packaging, turnover/completions, technical correspondence) and ability to articulate construction requirements across functions.
  • Working knowledge of construction progress measurement processes (e.g., QURR) and related reporting practices.
  • Experience with SQL database administration and data management, including schema design, queries, ETL processes, security roles, and performance optimization.
  • Experience developing reporting and visualization solutions (e.g., Power BI) and integrating/extracting data from multiple automation systems for stakeholder use.
  • Understanding of system integration, configuration, and change management practices, including configuration control, troubleshooting, and support of construction automation systems.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling and construction visualization tools (e.g., Navisworks) to support planning and coordination activities.
  • Strong problem-solving capability with a practical, hands-on, and self-directed approach, combined with adaptability to learn new tools and technologies (e.g., Power Platform, drones/GIS).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with field teams, contractors, and global stakeholders, build relationships, gather feedback, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to safety, including knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Incidents” program and a demonstrated focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Bechtel’s standard construction automation portfolio and enterprise toolset such as TEAMworks, SetRoute, Smart Completions, or equivalent platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and SharePoint Online) for solution development and automation.
  • Experience with 4D planning/visualization (Synchro) and Autodesk ecosystem tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) to support construction sequencing and analysis.
  • Experience with project turnover and completions processes, including data readiness and system handover requirements.
  • Familiarity with additional database platforms (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft Access) and their application within project environments.
  • Knowledge of data integration approaches, including APIs, adapters, and interoperability between systems (e.g., S3D, Aconex, SPPID, Revit).
