About the role
South Dakota State University is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our Facilities & Services team as a Lead Facility Worker. This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations and maintaining a safe, efficient campus environment. SDState is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with over $94 million annual research expenditures, more than 200 academic programs and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The university is part of a dynamic community for families, students, young professionals, and retirees, which offers an abundance of attractions and activities. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing work direction and training to permanent employees and student employees.
- Delegate and assign work in the absence of the Custodial Services Supervisor I.
- Provide building services to SDState facilities so people can learn and work in a safe and clean environment.
- Provide hard surface floor maintenance, carpet and restroom care, building security, and various maintenance tasks.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.

- Maintain levels of cleanliness and sanitation.

- Complete quality checks, ensuring guidelines, requirements and processes are followed.
- Provide oral instructions.
- Provide written instructions.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Bend, stretch, climb ladders, twist, and walk.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of computer software applications and systems.
