What You'll Do
- Operate excavators to dig trenches, foundations, and utility lines with precision.
- Locate, identify, and verify water mains, sewer lines, and drainage systems before and during excavation.
- Act as on-site foreman; coordinate laborers, communicate with supervisors, and ensure tasks are completed to plan.
- Install, inspect, and maintain trench shoring systems to protect workers and maintain OSHA compliance.
- Clear, grade, and prepare job sites; remove debris and support layout activities.
- Load trucks, move materials, and support multi-equipment operations.
- Perform daily inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Enforce safety protocols, PPE requirements, and trench safety regulations.
- Direct ground crews, signal operators, and maintain clear communication across the job site.
What You'll Bring
- Heavy Equipment Experience: 3-5 years operating excavators and working around underground utilities.
- Utility Knowledge: Ability to read utility plans, identify water and sewer lines, and work safely around live services.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license; OSHA 10/30 preferred; trench safety certification a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Experience directing crews, coordinating tasks, and maintaining workflow.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans.
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors, and handle physically demanding tasks.
