About the Role

The Lead Environmental Services Technician maintains a safe and clean work environment for employees and visitors. This lead position serves as a point of contact for the department and supports projects assigned by department leadership. This role is eligible to work onsite at our Topeka campus. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily tasks of an environmental services technician
• Serve as point of contact between evening shift and department leadership
• Act as point of contact for vendors when supervisor is not available
• Handle BCBSKS employee requests
• Fulfill supply requests for team members, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure adequate stock levels
• Complete detailed inspections and reports on floor conditions
• Manage team schedules and assignments if supervisor is not available
• Communicate and reinforce departmental goals, expectations, and initiatives to build team engagement and accountability

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent
• 2 years of experience in Environmental Services or housekeeping functions in a large facility
• Driver’s license required
• Prior leadership experience preferred

Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend hazardous material safety instructions
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• General knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in Environmental Service assignments
• Ability to respond to and resolve team issues professionally when supervisor is not available
• Ability to perform thorough and detailed inspections with high accuracy, identify potential issues, and ensure adherence to standards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 20 lbs., kneel, stoop, bend, and stretch
• Must be able to position yourself to inspect objects in high places, remain stationary, vacuum, and move arms for up to 5 hours at a time
• Exposure to dust and cleaning compounds

Pay

$20.96 - $26.20 per hour (Non-Exempt Grade 11). Offers are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay based on skills, education, experience, and training.
