What This Job Involves
The Lead Engineer - Critical Environments supervises and directs operating engineers in installation, repair, and maintenance of all base building and critical system machinery and equipment. Responsible for supervising the operating team on their shift. Assumes the Chief Engineer's responsibilities if the Chief Engineer is not on site.

What Is Your Day to Day?
- Supervise and direct maintenance staff while overseeing all building systems operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and emergency backup systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance scheduling, equipment troubleshooting, and coordinate contracted work to ensure minimal disruption to building services.
- Train maintenance team members in proper procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation to expand their capabilities and maintain professional standards.
- Manage inventory of tools and supplies, prepare purchase orders, and maintain accurate engineering logs and documentation.
- Monitor equipment performance, analyze system operations, diagnose problems, and implement corrective actions to achieve 100% uptime goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols for hazardous materials, Critical Facility Work Authorization processes, and emergency escalation procedures.
- Assist Chief Engineer with KPI implementation while overseeing contractor activities and protecting client asset value.
- Perform additional job duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Must have hands-on experience in a data center/critical facility, including UPS Systems, emergency generators, and switch-gear
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- 5+ years related work experience, including supervisory experience
- Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent
- Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC’s (or within 90 days of employment)
Preferred Qualifications
- Corrigo, MCIM / Salesforce, Zendesk or Service Now Experience
- Universal EPA 608 certification
- Trained in NFPA70E
Physical Work Abilities & Requirements
- This position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead, including:
- Walking large, campus-like settings.
- Lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Climbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipment.
- Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights.
- Ability to Climb a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit.
- Must be able to work different schedules.
- Must be able to work Holidays.
- Must be able to respond to site emergencies.
