Lead Engineer

About the role

We partner with clients to provide both program management and construction management to strategize, plan, and implement projects that drive organizations forward. From hospitals and airports to university campuses, mass transit systems, water treatment facilities, mines, and wind farms, we've successfully managed thousands of projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the Client PM, Construction Manager, and Resident Engineer as needed.
• Manage rail and transit-related facilities projects.
• Perform on technically complex projects and act as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.
• Review own work for accuracy and coordinate with others to ensure quality assurance and quality control for all final products.
• Participate and collaborate in project team settings, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others.
• Collaborate with the project team to maintain project documentation, process paperwork, and progress pay estimates.
• Coordinate construction administration issues.
• Review submittals, RFIs, NCRs, COs, and pay estimates from the contractor.
• Maintain oversight of project schedule against progress in the field.
• Keep detailed records, including daily reports when in the field.
• Aid in environmental compliance as needed.
• Resolve project issues.
• Inform the CM, RE, Client, and staff of project status.
• Assist with preparation of monthly and ad hoc reports.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
• Ability to effectively discuss project issues with contractors, project team, and clients, including ability to resolve conflict situations.
• Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the project team, obtaining and sharing necessary information.
• Strong organizational skills and understanding of task assignments and schedule.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
• Willingness to learn new tasks such as environmental compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe or BlueBeam.
• CAD (Computer Aided Design) experience is desirable but not required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field from an ABET accredited university.
• 5-10 plus years of experience working on construction projects for a contractor or as an owner’s representative.
• Hands-on experience with the inspection and contract administration of construction projects.
• Experience with traffic control and inspections of traffic control devices in the field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred, Certified Construction Manager (CCM) can be substituted for a PE, will consider an EIT (Engineer in Training) at a minimum.

Pay

$94,300.00 - $136,700.00 Annually
