Lead Engineer, CSRE

About the role

The Lead Engineer in Platform Enablement plays a crucial role in partnering with engineering teams across Ticketmaster to improve system resilience, operational practices, and overall platform efficiency. This role involves enabling teams to leverage the developer platform more effectively, improving observability, and supporting the adoption of LLM and AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Help engineering teams get more out of the developer platform by identifying bottlenecks and providing solutions.
• Coach teams on resilience and operational best practices, including SLOs, error budgets, and alerting philosophy.
• Build self-service workflows, templates, and documentation to streamline common issues.
• Improve observability and alerting practices, ensuring signal quality and useful dashboards.
• Support teams in CI/CD practices, including safely shortening the path from commit to production.
• Support the adoption of LLM and AI-assisted workflows, sharing patterns and fostering organizational skill growth.
• Pair with teams on resilience-focused design and code reviews, guiding them towards simpler, safer architectures.
• Support incident analyses, focusing on reducing impact and implementing durable fixes.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, reviews, and coaching.
• Bring actionable feedback to the CSRE Platform to continuously improve the platform.

Requirements

A deep practical understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets in practice. Strong experience designing and troubleshooting distributed systems, especially those with cross-service failure modes. Experience improving observability and alerting in production, including signal quality and useful dashboards. Comfortable working with systems in on-premises data centers and cloud-native environments. Strong cloud native experience, including governance and cost trade-offs. Ability to design resilient and automated tooling that scales across multiple teams. Experience with production readiness and resilience practices, such as disaster recovery validation and controlled testing. Strong software engineering fundamentals, including delivering and reviewing high-quality changes in enterprise codebases. Strong incident analysis skills, focusing on contributing factors and impact reduction. Experience working with LLM and AI-assisted tooling for engineering tasks, with judgment on where it is beneficial and where it is not. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear procedures, useful design documents, and executive-level summaries. Leadership qualities, including leading with service and humility, persuading with evidence and empathy, and mentoring deliberately.
