About the role
This position will follow our hybrid work model, with the expectation that the selected candidate will be in the St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office 50% of the time. This role is not eligible for Work Visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements and problems and deliver quality technical solutions.
- Deliver portions of the full systems life cycle (based on experience/skills) by designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting application software.
- Handle complex problems independently and demonstrate analytical thinking.
- Support HP NonStop (HPNS) discretionary changes and ongoing maintenance of the Margin Analysis system, as well as support for Trust systems and core Raymond James Bank platform data feeds to downstream applications.
- Make recommendations towards the development of new code or to reuse of existing code.
- Lead assigned projects, including assigning tasks, coordinating efforts, and monitoring performance.
- Recommend new technologies and methodologies to management for meeting business needs, resolving problems, and exploiting opportunities.
- Remain current with new technologies.
- Obtain and evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration.
- Participate in software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Write and/or review system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
- Aid in preparing project plans using project management tools.
- Review test results; document test activities, and record remedial actions.
- Ensure proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- More than five (5) years of relevant development or engineering experience is highly preferred.
- Financial Services Industry experience would be a plus.
Qualifications
- Understanding of the SDLC lifecycle for Agile & Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience with deconstructing complex problems into modular simple solutions.
- Strong sense of dedication and teamwork toward a goal.
- COBOL coding experience is required.
- RMS COBOL source code repository tool is a plus.
- Database processing and indexed file processing are required.
- BMC Control-M experience would be a plus.
- Tandem / HP NonStop environment experience would be a plus.
- Java, Restful / Webservices or integration work experience would be a plus.
