Lead Electrical Project Engineer

About the Role

The Lead Electrical Project Engineer will serve as the primary point of contact for MidAmerican’s review of electrical systems and components designed by an EPC contractor during the construction of a simple cycle combustion turbine power plant on a greenfield site. This role involves oversight of design, procurement, and construction activities, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Review EPC design documents (drawings and specifications) for conformance with contract requirements and industry best practices.
• Participate in design review meetings and assist in assessing technical compliance within the electrical specialty.
• Report on engineering progress and identify variances in documentation from the contract.
• Attend weekly Project Management Team (PMT) and status meetings.
• Provide monthly reports to the Project Manager and/or Construction Site Manager.
• Work primarily in the project’s field office on-site during construction.
• Independently verify and document installed facilities to ensure accuracy and conformance to construction records (CTRC).
• Support responses to Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Participate in the development and acceptance of turnover and start-up packages.
• Review design documents for safety and quality objectives within the area of responsibility.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Serve as the lead electrical project engineer for a simple cycle combustion turbine project.
• Coordinate with an EPC contractor responsible for design, procurement, and construction.
• Collaborate with other contractors performing related scopes of work on or adjacent to the project site.
• Report to Project Managers and the Site Construction Manager while supporting key project personnel.
