What You'll Do
- Design, develop, validate, and integrate end-to-end electrical hardware test solutions to support product development, testing, and manufacturing teams across Tesla (power electronics, motors, powertrain, battery, etc.)
- Ownership of PCB electronics and electrical sub-systems – specifications, design, prototyping, validation testing, and system integration
- Create electrical schematics, BOM, harness drawings, system diagrams, etc.
- Cross-functional collaboration with Mechanical, Software, Firmware, Regulatory, Testing, Manufacturing, Build and Operations teams
- Test equipment bring-up, commissioning, root cause analysis and troubleshooting field issues at various Tesla locations globally
- Create documentation for test equipment certification, operation, and maintenance
- Coach and mentor other Engineers, Interns, and Technicians to develop their technical skills and experience
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Hands-on hardware design, testing, and debugging experience in power electronics (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC converters) and low-power analog, digital circuits
- Experience in PCB layout with signal integrity, noise, and EMI considerations (Altium experience preferred)
- Experience with modeling and circuit simulation tools such as MATLAB-Simulink, LTspice, etc.
- Experience with embedded programming (microcontrollers, DSP, etc.) and digital communication protocols (CAN, RS-485, SPI, I2C, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of dynos, motors, drives, power systems, and switchgear components
- Good understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), FMEA tools/process, and quality control
- Experience with laboratory test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, high-voltage differential probes, current probes, power analyzers, data acquisition modules, etc.
- Experience with test automation and data analysis in NI LabVIEW, Python, etc.
- Experience with enterprise tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Office, etc.
